Muhsanat is studying computer science at Hunter College in New York and first came across Break Through Tech when she was researching opportunities in tech for undergraduates. Specifically, she was seeking situations where she could advance her interest in tech alongside other women. “I’ve always loved groups like this, where we can all connect not only on professional and academic levels but also make personal connections and feel supported,” says Muhsanat.

Muhsanat understands the importance of getting a foot in the door, a step that is not always readily available for undergraduates from smaller colleges. “That’s why I’m very grateful for programs like Break Through Tech, because it provides you with skillsets, confidence, and experiences that are vital in cultivating your career,” says Muhsanat.

One of those career-cultivating experiences came when Muhsanat landed a Sprinternship™ at Barclays. As a Risk Finance and Treasury Engineering Intern, Muhsanat helped develop a reporting engine for analyzing capital and comparing risk over time, all to be displayed efficiently on a user-friendly dashboard. This was followed by Muhsanat’s current “extern” role with Mobalytics, analyzing key player behaviors, motivations and strategies in the gaming industry. The analysis has led to the development of actionable insights and recommendations for enhancing player engagement and performance and guiding business strategy.

“I’ve always loved groups like this, where we can all connect not only on professional and academic levels but also make personal connections and feel supported.

When asked for the advice she would give to other students considering a Break Through Tech program, Muhsanat didn’t hesitate: “I would say go for it! I highly recommend becoming a part of the community; not only will you meet many like-minded and inspiring people to connect with but also with Break Through Tech industry partners representing lots of amazing companies.”

It doesn’t hurt that Break Through Tech’s mission strongly aligns with Muhsanat’s own values. “I really admire the work that it does,” says Muhsanat “and I hope I can make an impact on future individuals breaking into tech too!”
